Megan was born in St Andrews, and gained a degree in Theatre, Languages & Literature from Glasgow University before completing her vocal studies as a Postgraduate at the RSAMD, studying with Patricia MacMahon.

 

After graduating, she joined the Carl Rosa Opera Company, and toured extensively in Great Britain and Ireland. She joined the Scottish Opera Chorus in 2004 and has appeared in numerous stage and concert productions, as well as education projects, for the company.

 

Operatic roles include Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni (Derek Clark, Scottish Opera Orchestra) Alice Ford in Falstaff (Michael Bawtree, Scottish Opera Orchestra), Milliner in Der Rosenkavalier (Richard Armstrong, Scottish Opera) and Mabel in Pirates of Penzance (David Russell Hulme, Carl Rosa Opera Company).

 

 

Megan has performed regularly in concert and oratorio, as a soloist, with professional ensembles and as a cast member for Opera on a Shoestring. Solo repertoire includes: J.S. Bach St. John Passion, Christmas Oratorio, Magnificat; C.P.E. Bach Magnificat; Mozart Requiem, Mass in C Minor; Handel Messiah, Samson; Haydn Nelson Mass; Orff Carmina Burana; Rutter Magnificat; Gounod St.Cecilia Mass. As part of various performing ensembles, Megan sings works ranging from Opera to Scots Song, Operetta and G&S to Jazz and Musical Theatre. She has also performed and recorded new works by Scottish composers, including Stuart Mitchell, Eddie Maguire and William Sweeney.

 

After stepping back from regular performing, Megan is now focusing on her busy and established teaching practice, currently at St. Leonards School, St. Andrews and The University of St. Andrews. She is also undertaking professional research in the Vocal Pedagogy field.
